Question: Where are the fusible links in a 93 Mazda Protege?
I have electrical issues with a 93 Mazda Protege DX, and I need to track down the fusible links to see if they're blown or not. A diagram or schematic would be most helpful but anything counts.

I do have a Haynes book, and that's sort've an Issue! There is no legend to the diagram and I'm not an electronic guru. I'm the diagrams I figured X-01 was a fusible link, can anyone confirm the legend for the link on the diagrams?

answer: I would suggest following cables from the positive battery cable, and checking along there. Sometimes fuse-links are easy to overlook because they look just like regular old wires, and when you find them, don't just look at them, even if they don't look burnt or bubbled, pull on them slightly, wires won't give, but a fuse-link that has burn the wire inside but no the insulation will.

Question: Mazda, Protege - Sound comes when I start my car. Is this a hint of some major/minor issue?
When ever I start my Mazda, Protege car, it gives a Queeking sound (as if some belt is getting abraded) for couple of seconds. It stops after that.

No issues observed after that during driving. I want to know if this sound is a hint of some potential issue which I should fix right away.

Answer: hi this can be one of 2 things first the cheapest .check the belts are tight if thay work loose thay will sq-eek when you start the car then stop as they catch up with the puleys.this will were through the belt and snap .the next thing is the water pump a common fault with the mazda you can pick Thea's up Farly cheap on e bay problem solved.

Question: How much should I expect to pay to get the exhaust system of a 2001 Mazda Protege replaced?
I've been told I need to get the exhaust system of my 2001 Mazda Protege. How should I expect to pay to get this done? Do I need to get Mazda parts?

I don't think it is the muffler that needs replaced. I believe it is the exhaust manifold and catalytic converter. The parts the mechanic showed me were more towards the front of the car.

Answer: no you don't need Mazda parts you can use the cheaper alternative like napa auto zone it price of the job depends on the time and how hard it is for the old one to come apart and how easy the new one will be to install

Question: How do you remove and replace front wheel berrings on a 97 Mazda Protege?
I need to know in detail How to remove and replace front wheel berrings on a 97 Mazda Protege?

Answer: you dont need any shop press to remove the bearing, it would help but not neccesary, you can take it out with a hammer

first need 21mm socket to remove the wheel nuts
remove the pilot bearing (cv joint nut) 32mm socket
then remove 2 bolts from the shock (17mm socket and wrench too)
1 bolt for the tie rod end 17mm
2 bolts for the ball joint 17mm or 14mm not sure
now you can pull out the whole spindle, with the spindle out of the car then with the hammer strike the center part hard enough so the inner part of the spindle will come out, (strike it for the side of the cv joint)
once the inner part is out with a snap ring tool take out the snap ring and then strike again with the hammer and flat screw driver for the oposite site (strike from the side was supose to be the tire on the spindle so the bearing will came out)

now you have to put the new bearing and everything in place again the same way you do to take it out

Question: How do you check the airflow meter on a 1994 Mazda protege?
I am thinking about purchasing a 1994 Mazda Protege...and when looking online I was told to watch out for faulty airflow meters. How would I check for something like that at the car lot?

Answer: after 94 the flow-meter was discontinued because you can trick it for turbo engines with no need of changing ecu

in fact flow-meter was the ecu of the engine and when remove the lid you can adjust a needle and change your air/fuel ratio and tune it for turbo

i know that will not answer your question but i know you will be happy knowing that

there is no way to know if the flow-meter is going bad or not but replace it is not expensive and you can replace by yourself, the best way to know if something wrong with it is looking if the lid of the flow-meter was remove, you will know that because the surrounding silicone is not glue it like the factory,

factory silicone is like clear with yellow something like that, so if you see a different color of glue you know the flow-meter was previously open and that is a sign that could be faulty or was remanufactured flow-meter

Question: I have a mazda protege/2000 and I car wash it and the coling/heating system stop working whats wrong?
it is a Mazda protege 2000 manual I check some fuses and it looks that they are fine. I was very cold yesterday and I park it inside today maybe it is frozen or something ?

Answer: Very possible. Keep it warm and dry for a day and see what happens. You should check your coolant, to see if it is OK.

Someone is selling a 1997 Mazda protege automatic with 136,000 km for $3500 CAD. This is in the Ontario region. I believe it is overpriced. How much do you think it is reasonable to offer? The car comes satisfied and emission tested with life time body warranty (annually going to Mazda dealership and inspecting any problems with the car for free). What about the resale value of the car because I will be selling it after a year?

Question: How to change the headlight bulb 1995 mazda protege s?
Hey, I have a 1995 mazda protege S. I burnt out a bulb and I tried to change it today. I opened the hood located the bulb and pulled out this black box with wires attatched to it and the bulb was on it. The problem is I can't get the bulb off it looks like you just need to pull really hard but i'm scared it may break. I wanted to know is it ok to just pull the bulb out or is there a trick

Answer: the bulb has some kind of metal pin holding the bulb from coming out

is a bit tricky to take that thing out , is like, push down the metal thing down, then while pushing down the thing pull it to the engine side (like open a door, that movement is what i talking about) and when you do so the bulb will come out easy

Answer: Take the wheels off, remove the calipers, replace pads, replace calipers, replace wheels. It's easy. You'll see what to do when you start. ADVICE: Have another car or a buddy available to run to the auto parts store. Do it during the day.

Answer: its usally in the bottem left side or so..somewhere around there but just look at the very bottom every car has it there

I have looked underneath the car for a long time and havent find out where the oil filter is. Anyone know where its at?

Answer: oil filters are usually by the oil pan. look for the oil pan and then around it and you should see a cylindrical type can. That's your oil filter.

if you're going to replace the oil filter, you should probably change out the oil too (unless you're using synthetic.)

i want to have the diagram of a fuse box(relay box) of my mazda protege 2001 1.6L the fuse box or relay box is located in the engine compartment under the hood...thanks a lot.

answer: A chiltons repair manual is best.

The Haynes repair manual is cheaper with less info.
